Novel radioligands of MERTK for PET imaging and phenotyping of multiple sclerosis diagnosis

thesis
posted on 2020-11-18, 02:48 authored by SIU WAI WONG
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory disease of the central nervous system. There is currently no cure for MS and its management is challenging in progressive MS. A protein target, MERTK, has been reported to be upregulated with microglia level, which indicates the reparative process in MS. This thesis identifies MERTK-specific compounds that can be used as imaging agents of the brain, which allows for the stratification of MS patients based on disease states and hence for better therapeutic management.
