This thesis is dedicated to the valorisation of forest-derived hemicellulose for novel biopolymer applications. Hemicellulose was first recovered from timber waste. The recovered hemicellulose was depolymerised using green enzyme chemistry to valuable oligosaccharides for food application. In addition, hemicellulose was strategically modified using suitable green chemistry to develop new hemicellulose based biomaterials with potential biomedical and personal care applications.
