Novel Silver N-Heterocyclic Carbene Complexes embedded in Polymer Matrix as Potential Antimicrobial Agents

thesis
posted on 2023-12-12, 00:50 authored by JIA MING KHE
A list of new silver-based compounds have been synthesized with their potential antimicrobial effects tested against a range of bacteria and fungi. The compounds were also subjected to toxicity test to assess the possible side effects on human cells. Nonetheless, a challenge is that the antimicrobial effects can be lost over time. In concern with the sustainability of drug delivery, the compounds were then encapsulated within nanofiber polymer, thereby prolonging release of bioactive agents. This could provide insight into future drug delivery design, particularly in applications like wound dressing.
