This thesis examines how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can help diagnose skin cancer. It explores the role of AI in dermatology, focusing on Australia’s regulations, ensuring these technologies work well for everyone, regardless of their skin colour/ skin lesion pigmentation or where they live. The research includes testing AI models on skin cancer images from various sources, comparing their effectiveness, and evaluating an AI-based system for remotely assessing skin cancer in regional Victoria. The goal is to understand how AI can improve skin cancer diagnosis and treatment, whilst making it safe, accessible and accurate for all.
