In the absence of reliable and valid neuropsychological measures, accurate assessment of culturally diverse groups is a challenge facing the Australian neuropsychological community. The use of tests developed for the majority English-speaking population has been shown to result in misdiagnosis when applied to immigrant populations. Greek Australian immigrants constitute one of the largest ageing ethnic minority groups in Australia, who are at risk of developing dementia. Therefore, the aims of this thesis were to develop culturally specific tests and normative data to assist with accurately diagnosing Greek Australian older adults with suspected dementia.
