Neurobiology of working memory across the adult lifespan

thesis
posted on 2023-10-12, 03:42 authored by SIAN VIRTUE-GRIFFITHS
Despite remaining stable for much of adulthood, visual working memory declines occur from the age of 50 in a linear progression. There are multiple competing hypotheses and models put forth to understand these declines. This thesis focuses on neural synchrony and uses novel experimental (i.e., TMS-EEG) and analytic (i.e., measuring aperiodic activity) methods to provide a greater understanding of the neural underpinnings of visual working memory across the adult lifespan.
