This ethnographic study explores the relationships between humans and animals who work together. Specifically, it focuses on multispecies organisational dynamics in beekeeping, Thoroughbred racing, animal assisted interventions, and animal assisted therapy. Understanding these multispecies relationships through a theoretical perspective informed by new materialisms, concerned with social and material entanglements of human and nonhuman species, provides the opportunity to consider how animals impact on our emotional, political and ethical connections with work. In light of its findings, this thesis introduces the concept of more-than-human organising, highlighting how organisational life emerges through more-than-human dynamics that often defy human perception, articulation, and control.
