Musculoskeletal health in women with premature ovarian insufficiency (POI)

thesis
posted on 2024-08-14, 21:44 authored by NAVIRA SAMAD
Premature ovarian insufficiency (POI) occurs when a woman's ovaries cease functioning before the age of 40, resulting in significantly low levels of estrogen in the body. This deficiency in estrogen puts women at higher risk for bone, heart, and metabolic issues, as well as infertility. In this thesis, my focus lies on understanding the effects of POI on bone and muscle health through various techniques. I have also studied the effects of hormone therapy on these changes. The findings from this study will aid in early detection of bone and muscle problems in young women with POI, paving the way for tailored treatment and lifestyle interventions to improve their bone and muscle health.
