Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) can infect humans via Aedes mosquito bites and causes joint pain, fever, rashes and sometimes death in immunocompromised patients. Currently, there are no approved antivirals or vaccines for CHIKV. This thesis covers the pathogenesis of CHIKV in human muscle cells as well as the road to unveil the therapeutics target that can be used to reduce the CHIKV infection severity.
