Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a neurodegenerative disease which currently has no known cure and usually leads to death within 2-5 years from onset of symptoms. Diagnosis can take one year to be confirmed as there are no definitive tests for ALS. Early diagnosis and early treatment would give the best chance of preventing irreversible damage to the nervous system. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a non-invasive technique to investigate human brain changes. This research implemented advanced multimodal MRI techniques to investigate how these changes might progress from early to later stages in the limb onset form of ALS.
