Multimedia Assisted Language Learning (MMALL) and Facilitating L2 Listening Comprehension in an EFL Classroom

The main goal of the current study was to investigate the effect of using Multi-Media Assisted Learning modalities in facilitating listening comprehension in the context of Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) in Saudi Arabia. By modalities it is meant the various technological forms of media enabled in a multi-media environment (for example, technology that can play video, audio recordings as well as display the transcripts for a spoken text). The groups which used audio-visual modalities (captioned video) showed significant difference between their pre and post-tests. Multimedia modalities were helpful to overcoming listening comprehension difficulties that they have encountered
