Multidimensional Modelling of Magnetic Fields in Core-Collapse Supernovae and Their Progenitors

This thesis explores the role of magnetic fields in core-collapse supernovae and in their progenitors using detailed multidimensional simulations. The role of magnetic fields in these events are often ignored due, in part, because it is assumed that unless rapid rotations are involved, the magnetic fields are too weak to be dynamically relevant. We challenge this assumption through three projects in this thesis: 1)The first code comparison of magnetorotational supernova models. 2) The first 3D magnetohydrodynamic simulation of the final minutes of Oxygen convective shell burning in a massive star. 3) 3D simulations of non-rotating strongly magnetised neutrino-driven core-collapse supernovae.
