Motivation, Grit and Well-Being of University Students: Lessons from a developing country
thesis

The current study focuses on exploring the relationship between intrapersonal attributes, academic self-efficacy, well-being, and global citizenship of university students. The findings reveal that a grit mindset impacts academic self-efficacy more than intrinsic motivation. However, the intrinsic motivation of individual students is essential in mediating the positive effect of grit on academic self-efficacy and well-being, respectively. The study demonstrates that students with higher well-being tend to express significant concern about global issues. The results provide insights for higher education policymakers to revisit the role of grit and intrinsic motivation in improving academic confidence and the well-being of university students.
