More Than a Viewer Guide: Rethinking Television Criticism in the Post-Television Era

thesis
posted on 2023-04-06, 07:09 authored by ISABELLA MCNEILL
This thesis explores how television criticism has recently been reimagined from what was once a small section within print broadsheet newspapers to become a dynamic, central component of television post-viewing engagement practices. Through an examination of three case studies—the recap, the thinkpiece, and the podcast—this thesis brings journalistic critical perspectives on television to the fore, employing the critic as a lens through which to assess changes to the contemporary television landscape.
