Adrenoceptors, members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, are involved in glucose metabolism, and adrenoceptor mediated glucose uptake occurs independently from insulin signalling pathway. In this thesis, we examined the mechanisms underlying increased glucose uptake following activation of adrenoceptors.
