Modulation of α-globin gene expression: Applications for β-thalassaemia treatment

The thesis examines the detrimental effects of globin chain imbalance in blood disorder, beta-thalassaemia. This thesis characterizes a new model system, novel cell line for beta-thalassaemia. This thesis also identifies a new disease modifier and establishes that correcting globin chain imbalance may be of benefit to patients.
