Water scarcity is among the most crucial problems in arid and semi-arid regions. Although intensive rainfall events are rare in this region, they generate significant surface water flow, leading to flash floods. Despite the damages caused by a heavy rainstorm, their occurrences can significantly replenish groundwater resources. This thesis presents a detailed statistical analysis of hydroclimatic variables, with surface water and groundwater coupled modelling, to identify the hydrological characteristics and quantify the water resources of a semi-arid river basin of India. Also, a framework was presented to identify suitable sites of water conservation measures for groundwater augmentation and flood management.
