Modelling and design of high-speed rotors for axial flux permanent magnet synchronous machines utilising wound-in-place filament sleeves

thesis

This thesis investigates the use of wound filament sleeves in the rotors of high-speed pancake electric motors. A modelling method was developed to describe such sleeves both during winding and during machine operation. This was applied to the design and manufacture of a high-speed rotor which was then physically tested.
