Downdrafts are winds formed when it rains. They are important to the evolution of clouds in time, and are overall poorly understood. In this thesis we look at downdrafts in simulations of the tropical atmosphere. We find that the tool most used to predict downdraft strengths is inadequate, and that we can expect downdrafts to become larger and more intense as the atmosphere warms
