Visualization of hazards on construction sites is an important aspect of construction safety trainings. This research uses mixed reality visualizations based on building information models and proposes a framework for designing site-specific and task-specific safety trainings. Studies in this thesis reveal factors critical for effective safety trainings in immersive virtual environments and evaluate the efficiency of immersive trainings created using the proposed framework on improvement in hazard identification and knowledge acquisition among construction workers. Results show that immersive visualizations facilitate better hazard identification and knowledge acquisition when compared to traditional construction safety training methods.
