A vaginal birth injury can progress to pelvic organ prolapse (POP), usually in menopausal women. Currently, there are no optimal procedures for preventing POP. Developing cells therapy for women who can use their own’s cells to repair the damaged tissue is vital. Hence, this study aimed to evaluate the effect of pMSCs delivered in the hydrogel in a rat model of acute birth injury. Animal study results indicated that treated injured vaginas appear to show a slight improvement. This treatment aims to prevent POP development, resulting in a reduction in the number of surgeries required for this condition.
