Microstructure And Mechanical Behaviour Of Biodegradable Zn-Cu-Ag Alloys

thesis
posted on 2023-11-17, 03:54 authored by CHUN CHEN
Zn-based alloys tend to exhibit high tension-compression yield asymmetry (TCYA), inadequate strain hardening and poor mechanical stability at room temperature. If these limitations are not properly addressed, the stents made of these alloys may not offer sufficient mechanical support, compromising their effectiveness. Therefore, it becomes necessary to investigate and overcome these challenges associated with Zn-based alloys. This thesis develops a new Zn-based alloy, finds out effective strategies for controlling its TCYA, strain hardening and room-temperature mechanical stability and gains a better understanding of precipitates formed in the alloy.
