Microstructural characterisation and control of perovskite solar cells

This thesis examines a range of perovskite solar cell materials using electron microscopes. Protocols are developed to limit the damaging effects of the high-energy electron beams, and as a result, previously unseen crystallographic properties are described. These are correlated with the overall solar cell performance, showing that a perfect cubic crystal structure with no ordered defects provides the best solar cell performance in the materials studied.
