Hybrid nanomaterials are the combination of two or more materials, such as metal and semiconductor. They are extensively investigated due to their potential applications in energy conversion and storage. In this thesis, generalised synthetic procedures for hybrid nanoparticles are presented offering the flexibility to synthesise morphologies such as Janus and core-shell nanoparticles by tuning the synthesis parameters.
It is expected that the synthesis methods presented in this thesis can be extended and applied to other hybrid nanoparticle-based systems of different architectures, opening the possibility for their application within a range of rewarding technological applications of these hybrid nanoparticles.
