thesis
posted on 2024-09-02, 07:24 authored by Sutha Rajakumar
Metabolic syndrome (MetS) involves elevated blood pressure, central obesity, elevated fasting plasma glucose, low HDL, and high triglycerides. Limited research has been done on children and adolescents prevalence of Metabolic Syndrome in Malaysia as per IDF guidelines and association with parental cardiovascular disease. This thesis includes a systematic review on MetS parameters in children related to parental CVD, secondary analysis of SEACO Health Survey 2018 exploring children's BMI and parental cardiovascular risk, and the Child Health 20 study examining MetS prevalence and metabolite profiles in children and adolescents, revealing significant associations between maternal health factors and children's MetS.
