With a mixed-methods approach, this thesis explores the extent to which participation in a EBSN called Meetup allows members to form and maintain interethnic relationships in Melbourne, Australia. Results indicate that participation in Meetup allows members to form interethnic relationships, but not necessarily maintain them over time. Findings from this thesis suggest that shared leadership, increased quantity and quality of contact, and multi-channel and multi-activity engagement are key elements that could enhance relationship maintenance.
