Medicinal Chemistry for Novel Treatments for Visceral Leishmaniasis

Visceral leishmaniasis is of growing concern globally and affects approximately 12 million people. This thesis investigates the structure-activity relationship of two scaffolds against L. donovani in an attempt to uncover novel treatments for visceral leishmaniasis. Chapter 1 provides an overall background surrounding the disease and current treatments. Chapters 2 to 4 discuss the work conducted throughout the research project and provide the results of this work. Chapter 5 contains the experimental data.
