Heart failure is a condition where the heart’s function does not match the needs of the body. 50% of heart failure cases are due to HFpEF (heart failure with preserved ejection fraction), where there are no effective therapies due in part to a lack of understanding of the mechanisms. In this thesis we explore the underlying causes through detailed pre-clinical and clinical studies, extending to artificial intelligence, and concluding with the first randomised trial of a novel drug.
