Martensite is a key constituent of almost all high strength steels but the traditional views of martensite strengthening cannot well describe the strain hardening behaviour of martensite. In this thesis, we investigated the mechanical properties of as-quenched and tempered martensite and developed physical models that can reproduce the flow behaviour of martensite during tempering.
