Meatus: A Curatorial Passage

thesis
posted on 2021-05-24, 01:41 authored by Frances Barrett
Meatus: A Curatorial Passage turns on the question 'How can I queer the curator?' This practice-led research aims to articulate a queer methodology for curating and to examine the practices that stabilise and destabilise the curatorial role. It centralises on the development and presentation of two projects: the immersive sound installation, 'Frances Barrett: Meatus' and the live performance, 'Curator's Talk' (2021, Australian Centre for Contemporary Art). What emerged were two pathways to queer the curator: meatus and artist-cum-curator.
