Psychosis is a devastating condition characterised by hallucinations, delusions and cognitive difficulties. People with psychosis often show differences in brain volume and brain function, however, the cause of these differences is unknown. This thesis investigates the causes of brain alterations in psychosis and specifically examines whether these changes are a result of antipsychotic medications or other illness-related processes. The results of this thesis provide guidance and recommendations for the treatment of psychosis and its implications on brain health.
