Mangrove ecosystems need to be protected because they play an enormous role in the face of climate change and are also vulnerable to environmental changes and anthropogenic pressures. Therefore, this project has advanced our knowledge of identifying geographical patterns of how climate change could impact mangroves in the future. Here we identified six central biogeographic mangrove regions in Australia and characterised their environmental thresholds. In addition, we located the most threatened areas of mangroves in Australia and Mexico in response to climate change and urbanisation, aiming to help the conservation and management of mangroves.
