Making and Undoing Forming / and Unforming

thesis
posted on 2020-04-30, 01:25 authored by ANNE-MARIE ELIZABETH MAY
This exegesis charts a program of studio-led research into the use of making and undoing or forming and unforming focusing on the production of haptic, optical and spatial intensities. As two interrelated dimensions of forming, making and undoing are approached as a dynamic event in which materials, production procedures and presentation processes intertwine to focus on the slippages from one state to another. The research draws on Gilles Deleuze’s theorisation of sensation in his collaboration with Felix Guattari to position methodologies of making and undoing or forming and unforming as a group of operative processes that produce critical effects.
