Data is accumulating at an exponential pace and machine learning transforms how humans interact with this corpus of information. While many industries have already found significant benefits from modern machine learning, these tools have not translated to perioperative risk prediction in cardiac surgery. Our research has analyzed the shortcomings of current machine learning methods and engineered new solutions to these problems to help translate these powerful tools to making cardiac surgery safer.
