MIXING AND SEGREGATION OF ELLIPSOIDAL PARTICLES IN A ROTATING DRUM

thesis
posted on 2019-11-24, 12:38 authored by SIYUAN HE
Rotating drums are extensively used in industries for granular mixing, grinding and drying. In the mixing process, segregation of granules is commonly encountered, which can significantly lower the mixing quality. In the past decades, comprehensive studies have been carried out to understand and predict the mixing and segregation behaviour. However, most of these studies are mainly based on spherical particles. Particle shape can affect the mixing and segregation greatly, but only limited studies shown in the literature. The main objective of this thesis is to investigate the mixing and segregation of non-spherical particles, ellipsoids in particular, in a rotating drum.
