Throughout history, bacterial infections, such as pneumonia, wound infections and sepsis, have been responsible for several major disease epidemics. The introduction of antibiotics to treat bacterial infections has greatly reduced deaths from bacterial diseases. However, due to the misuse and overuse of the antibiotics around the world, bacteria become stronger to be able to resist the actions of antibiotics. To save more lives from the catastrophic bacterial infection, my research therefore focuses on developing new antimicrobials that do not induce resistance, as well as investigating their killing mechanisms against antibiotic resistant bacteria.
