Cardiometabolic diseases are a group of related disorders that are influenced by our genetics, environment, and lifestyle factors and impose a significant burden to society. Through his work, Aaron characterised the role of a novel gene in regulating fat levels in the liver, which could possibly guide the development of new strategies to treat fatty liver disease. His work also provides insight into some exciting new ways in which we can discover new genes that contribute to fatty liver and heart disease, in order to help us better understand, diagnose and treat these conditions.
