The ageing of the human population is one of the most significant social transformations facing the world. As Thailand’s population begins to age, it looks towards Japan to adopt policy ideas and best practices. The current study investigates how Thailand adopts measures, policies and programs from Japan, in order to address the challenges faced by Thailand’s rapidly ageing society. It presents findings based on the case study of S-TOP, a healthcare program, transferred by a Japanese government agency called the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) into Ratchaphiphat Hospital in Bangkok, Thailand.
