Iran and the West: a non-Western approach.

thesis
posted on 2019-01-28, 04:43 authored by ANDREW THOMAS
This project attempts to draw attention to non-Western foreign policy perspectives in the field of international relations (IR), focusing on Iran as a case study. This study looks to the Iranian case as a prime example of a state that is often the subject of foreign policy analysis, but rarely considered in the context of Iranian identity and perspective. The complexity of the Iranian political character as both nation and state makes its relationship with Western powers an ideal case that could benefit from more investigation in a non-Western context. The ultimate goal of this project is to potentially offer a greater understanding of Iran’s foreign policy character and provide another contribution to the growing call for more consideration of non-Western thought and authorship.
