This thesis examined the role of the blood vessel surface layer and subsets of a specific type of white blood cell known as monocytes, in models of immune-mediated kidney inflammation. It was determined that the blood vessel surface layer plays a complex role in regulating the recruitment of various white blood cells. Additionally, an approach for imaging monocyte subsets was developed. Finally, it was revealed that two monocyte subsets can mediate inflammation in a model of immune-mediated kidney inflammation.
