Investigations of how to strategise human resource management systems to enhance organisational performance: A meta-analysis

thesis
posted on 2021-11-07, 22:09 authored by Xiaoxuan Zhai
Drawing on multiple management theories and positive psychological perspectives, this study investigates how strategic human resource management (SHRM) systems can be deployed to improve individual and organisational performance. Findings from meta-analysis via structural equation modelling methods show that the systemic synergy of SHRM enhances corporate social performance through a positive psychological route jointly shaped by employees’ psychological empowerment, job satisfaction and well-being, ultimately leading to better business performance. Such a performance improvement mechanism varies for organisations operating in Western versus Eastern countries. This study highlights the critical roles of social performance and positive psychological experiences in sustaining optimised business performance.
