This thesis examines the role of two proteins, ADAM17 and ASC in promoting inflammation in disease, specifically pancreatitis, acute lung injury and lung cancer. It identifies an inflammatory role for these proteins in these diseases and highlights that treatment targeting these could be beneficial.
