The nitrogen-rich and nitrogen-doped carbon sheets have gained attention as effective photo-and electro-catalysts for photocatalysis and oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) due to their optical, electronic, thermal and mechanical properties. In this thesis, efficient synthesis methods were developed to improve the catalytic performance of carbon, nitrogen-based catalysts. The mechanism of catalytic reactions was investigated to the better design of catalysts for specifical applications.
