Investigation into Non-Uniform Electrode Designs for High-Temperature Langasite Crystal Resonator

thesis
posted on 2022-02-16, 22:57 authored by MOHAMMAD ISMAEEL SHAH
Piezoelectric resonators based on langasite (LGS) crystals has been employed in numerous sensing applications including pressure, gas and liquid. However, the inherent flaw of LGS related to spurious modes often reduces the performance of such resonators, especially at higher temperatures. This thesis investigates novel non-uniform electrode designs and materials to suppress the spurious modes, and develop robust LGS resonators that can operate at high temperatures with minimal damage. The overall structure involves the systematic design, development and characterization of these resonators for harsh environmental conditions.
