The impact of the use of a large number of new industry inspired teaching laboratories was investigated over three years. This was achieved through surveys and focus groups and predominately investigated the shift in student perceptions over this time period. It was found that the new experiences aided the students with regards to their ability to articulate their developed skills. Other shifts were noted with students becoming more aware of the connection between laboratories and the real-world, but this was lost over time due to the larger number of traditional experiences in the final year of their undergraduate experience.
