Investigating the Role of Telehealth within a Younger Onset Dementia Service

thesis
posted on 2024-05-17, 13:06 authored by AIMEE DENISE BROWN
Telehealth has the potential to address challenges experienced by people living with younger onset dementia (YOD) in accessing important specialised services. This research identified barriers and factors that assisted with implementing YOD telehealth services considering metropolitan and rural-based factors. Similar results were found across cognitive tasks administered in person and using telehealth, confirming the reliability of telehealth-based assessments for YOD. Personal characteristics, such as age and computer knowledge, had minimal impact on performances during telehealth assessments. Taken together, this research supports the role of telehealth in assessing and supporting people with YOD, further expanding healthcare options for those with limited access.
