Analysis of the recent interactions between the tropical Atlantic Ocean (TAO), tropical Indian Ocean (TIO) and tropical Pacific Ocean (TPO) suggests that post-1980, the TAO influence on the TPO appears to have strengthened relative to that of TIO. The present study explores whether and how long-term changes in TAO and TIO can influence the TPO, and attempt to explain the recent dominance of the TAO while subsidence of the TIO in modulating these teleconnections. For this, we carry out certain ACCESS AGCM experiments and try to understand how the warm or cool TAO/TIO can influence the TPO rainfall and winds.
