The reception and resuscitation of critically unwell patients form key areas of practice in emergency medicine with the high potential for medication errors. There is an unmet need to clarify the role of the EM pharmacist during resuscitation. This PhD thesis has demonstrated that EM pharmacist involvement in three areas of practice including stroke, sepsis and trauma was associated with significant improvements in efficiency and safety including a reduction in the time to prescribing and administration of time critical medications. The momentum generated calls for continued collaboration and implementation to ensure these models become standard care benefiting patients worldwide.
