This thesis describes changes in aspects related to sleep across perinatal periods and presents findings from a randomised control trial of cognitive behavioural therapy and light dark therapy to reduce insomnia and sleep disturbance in women 4-12 months postpartum. This thesis adds to current conceptualisations of perinatal sleep and insomnia, and presents innovative ways forward for targeting commonly-experienced sleep disturbance in the postpartum.
