Inflammation in Coronary Atherosclerosis: Insights from Cardiac Computed Tomography

thesis
posted on 2020-12-07, 21:09 authored by ANDREW KUAN LIN
Inflammation of the heart arteries plays an important role in the build up of cholesterol deposits which can lead to heart attacks. CT scans of the heart can now be used to detect and measure the amount of inflammation, by assessing the fat around the vessels. This thesis combines CT imaging of fat surrounding the heart arteries with state-of-the-art software and artificial intelligence techniques, to identify patients who may be at risk of future heart attacks.
